Telecom to provide free Wi-Fi services

Nepal's leading operator Nepal Telecom (NT) has planned to provide free Wi-Fi facilities. NT will be providing free wifi services in different places for around 3 months to the general public. With the intend of promoting its Wimax internet services, 500 Wifi hotspots will be set up in different parts of the Kathmandu valley and the country.

NTC Launching WiMax Service

NTC is launching the WiMAX internet service for the first time in Nepal. The WiMAX service will currently be available in Kathmandu valley and all over Nepal in the second phase of WiMAX distribution. The service will currently be available to business houses, academic institutions, hospitals, NGO's and INGO's.
NTC is also planning to provide the service to general public after a month.

The minimum speed will be 256kbps with volume based package.

NTC Reduces Data Tariff to 6 Paisa Per 100 KB


Nepal Telecom has slashed the price of data services to 6 paisa per 100KB (excluding tax). Previously, 10 Paisa was charged for 100KB of data usage. This new charge is applicable for customers using GPRS/EDGE/3G services.
